Formula 1 Air Racing Wing Analysis

This page details the finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics studies conducted on the International Formula 1 racing wing that I am building with a group of Cal Poly Students.

CFD analysis was conducted in STAR CCM+ with ISA conditions at 5100 ft MSL. Mesh is a 26 million-cell poly mesh with a Y+ of 1, analyzed with a coupled-flow solver using SST K-Omega RANS turbulence model. Pressure outputs were mapped to FEA model.

FEM analysis was conducted in FEMAP using laminate shell elements for the composite structures and a tetrahedral mesh for the solid spar elements.
